Facebook And Instagram Outage Leaves Users Disconnected
“Our most used social networks, Facebook and Instagram, simultaneously went down this morning. Logging many of us out of our accounts,” said Andy Stone, spokesperson for Meta. “Engineers were immediately working to resolve the issue and reconnect people.”
Over 500,000 reports were registered on the outage tracking website Downdetector, with issues regarding logging in and accessing newsfeeds on both Facebook and Instagram. Some users also noted that they were logged out of their accounts without explanation. The outages lasted for around two hours before being resolved.
Meta’s status page showed “major disruptions” affecting Facebook and Instagram during this time. In a statement, Stone explained that the company was “aware that people were having trouble accessing some of our services” . And that the root cause was a “technical issue”, though did not provide further details.
