UK Weather Woes Continue As More Rain on The Way
The past weekend brought some much needed relief from the dreary UK weather but the break was all too brief. While Sunday saw drier conditions for many, the rain gear is going to have to come back out again with more wet weather on the horizon this week according to forecasts. Parts of the northwest and Wales will get soaked to start while showers threaten elsewhere.
As the last of Saturday’s downpours cleared out overnight, Sunday dawned brighter for a change. The sun even made some appearances in spots that have been cloudy and rainy for what seems like forever at this point. Meteorologist Craig Snell from the Met Office explained this was just a temporary lull, however, with “the next area of rain” already lining up to move back in.
When Will it End?
You’d think after all the precipitation we’ve had lately that the ground would be saturated to the point the rain would just start pooling up on the surface. Alas, no such luck as this week is shaping up to be another wet one according to forecasts. Snell warns we can expect periods of heavy rain and potentially strong winds at times too. Lovely. As if the UK weather couldn’t get any more dreary. The unsettled conditions look to be sticking around through Thursday as well. So much for any hopes of dry weather any time soon.
With over 60 flood warnings still in effect, it’s clear more rainfall could cause issues. The Environment Agency and their Welsh counterparts have alerts posted, meaning flooding is possible. Residents in low-lying areas will need to remain alert for potential flooding over the coming days. Looks like we’ll be dodging raindrops and puddles for the foreseeable future. Thanks for nothing, UK weather!
