Trump’s Allen Weisselberg Sentenced To 5 Months For Lying Under Oath

Trump’s right-hand man for financial dealings, Allen Weisselberg, was back in court on Wednesday to be sentenced for committing perjury. During his testimony in the New York Attorney General’s civil lawsuit against former President Donald Trump. The 76-year-old retired CFO of the Trump Organization pleaded guilty last month to two counts of lying under oath. About his knowledge of valuations made on Trump’s financial statements.

During questioning, Weisselberg downplayed what he knew about how the size of Trump’s Manhattan penthouse was exaggerated to be nearly three times its actual size on documents. This led to an inflated valuation of the property. For lying in 2020 and 2023 depositions as well as during trial testimony last year. Weisselberg was sentenced to five months incarceration at Rikers Island jail.

A Loyal Lieutenant

Allen Weisselberg

After nearly 50 years working for the Trump family real estate business, Allen Weisselberg had proven his undying loyalty. Even after resigning due to separate tax evasion charges last year. While testifying, he carefully avoided implicating his former boss Donald Trump in any wrongdoing. However, his lies under oath could no longer protect the values stated on financial records used for loans and deals.

With time already served for dodging taxes, Weisselberg will report to jail for the second time in just over a year. As Trump’s criminal trial for alleged hush money payments looms, Weisselberg’s role in the organization’s financial dealings ensures he isn’t done dealing with legal consequences tied to his work under the former president.
