Microsoft’s Activision Blizzard Acquisition: A $69 Billion Game-Changer

In a landmark move, Microsoft has officially announced its Microsoft’s Activision Blizzard Acquisition for a staggering $69 billion. This incredible deal brings games, like Call of Duty under the Xbox brand.

Phil Spencer, the leader of Xbox expressed his excitement about incorporating Activision Blizzard games into Game Pass. He hinted at the addition of known franchises from Activision, Blizzard and King to the service.

 “Today marks the beginning of a journey. We’re excited to bring titles from Activision, Blizzard and King to Game Pass and other platforms. Stay tuned for updates on when these games will be available on Game Pass ” Spencer stated.

Acknowledging the player community of Activision Blizzard games Spencer emphasized their commitment to supporting platforms.

 “To all fans of Activision, Blizzard and King titles today is a day for gaming. Regardless of whether you play on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, PC or mobile devices. You are a valued member of our community. Our vision is to create a gaming world that’s more inclusive and this acquisition is a step, in that direction ” he added.

The journey to this Microsoft’s Activision Blizzard Acquisition has been eventful. This year the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), in the UK expressed concerns regarding the deal particularly related to gaming.

However through a series of negotiations and approvals including an agreement with Sony to ensure Activision games on PlayStation for the decade those concerns were addressed.

A crucial moment in the acquisition process was Microsofts proposal to transfer Activisions gaming rights to Ubisoft. This step aimed at addressing competition worries by allowing Ubisoft to bring versions of Activision Blizzard games to any platform. The CMA commended this revised agreement emphasizing its potential to promote pricing and improved services within the cloud gaming industry.

Brad Smith, Vice Chair and President of Microsoft expressed gratitude for the CMAs review. “Todays decision signifies the culmination of our efforts in making this acquisition a reality. We strongly believe that this merger will bring forth an era of gaming that will benefit players worldwide ” stated Smith.

As excitement fills the gaming community, Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard reached out to his team. In his message he shared optimism, about what lies and highlighted opportunities resulting from this merger.
