Cue told Fast Company the Apple Sports app is designed for quick lookups rather than lengthy sessions. “We’re not trying to have you spend 30 minutes on the app,” he said. “You can spend five seconds to go look at the score, or you might spend 30 seconds, or you might spend three minutes going play-by-play because it’s the end of the game.” To that end, the app utilizes a barebones design that prominently displays scores and standings without distractions.

For ongoing games, users can view real-time play-by-play data in the Apple Sports app. They can also personalize their experience by following favorite teams and leagues to keep close tabs on matchups that matter most. While light on features for now, the app could expand over time to become a more full-featured sports hub, especially if Apple increases its live sports streaming offerings.
