Lake Remains Busy Recreational Area
Despite the somber discovery, Lady Bird Lake – also known as Town Lake – has continued welcoming local residents and visitors to enjoy its scenic trails and waters. Named after former First Lady Lady Bird Johnson, the urban lake is a popular spot for activities like jogging, cycling, kayaking and fishing. However, this incident serves as a reminder of the water’s dangers, especially for those in it unintentionally or without proper supervision.
Police and medical examiners will continue their investigation to determine the identity of the deceased and how they ended up unconscious in the lake near one of its dams on Saturday morning. Any clues as to what led to this tragedy will be critical to provide closure to loved ones and keep others safe around the lake going forward.
