Microsoft’s Big Windows 11 Update Brings Major Changes
Microsoft has rolled out a significant Windows 11 update packed with new features and improvements. The release includes tweaks to Copilot, Photos, Widgets, Snap layouts, casting, sharing, and accessibility. The update began rolling out on February 29th but some features will launch gradually over the next month.
Copilot Gets Smarter
One of the headline new features is an expanded set of skills for Copilot. In this Windows 11 update, Copilot will be able to control basic system settings like battery saver mode and launching accessibility tools. It will also display available WiFi networks, storage space usage, and empty the recycle bin. The Photos app is gaining a new “Generative Erase” tool to remove unwanted objects from images using AI.
Widgets and Snap layouts are receiving significant changes in the Windows 11 update. Widgets can now disable the unwanted Microsoft Start feed and work with third-party providers. Snap layouts will remember frequently used app combinations and suggest them automatically. The update also tweaks casting and makes it simpler to share content between devices using Nearby Share. Windows Ink now supports writing in more apps like Photos and WhatsApp.
Additional improvements focus on accessibility and mobile integration. A new “Voice Shortcuts” feature lets you create custom voice commands. Accessibility tools like Narrator gain natural voices. The Phone Link app allows using an Android phone as a PC webcam or accessing recent photos. The Windows 11 update is rolling out gradually but you can get it immediately by enabling optional updates in Windows Update. Microsoft will monitor the rollout and address any issues.
