Lukashenko Expresses Concerns Over Air Defense, Calls for Vigilance

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko, during his visit to the central command post of the Air Force and Air Defense Command, expressed his concerns regarding the country’s air defense.

Even though he said the situation wasn’t that bad, he admitted that there were some things that made him worried.

Lukashenko talked about how important it is to keep an eye on the security of the country. Especially in the skies, and how the troops are on high watch because of recent events.

Lukashenko talked about how four planes were shot down near the Bryansk Oblast. And how important it was to do something about it.

So, ever since then, the troops have been on high watch. The President asked for a clear and honest look at the situation and its short-term chances.

After getting the news, Andrei Lukyanovich, Commander of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Armed Forces of Belarus, gave the press more information.

He said that more duty troops were being sent out . Because of recent events at the western and southern borders, such as NATO-led military training drills.

Lukyanovich explained that additional personnel, resources, and equipment were being utilized, with 750-1,000 personnel placed on air defense alert daily.

Following incidents in the Russian Federation, air defense missile forces, radio technology forces, and aviation units were raised to combat readiness level one.

The security measures were extended to alert units, airfields, and installations under the radio technology and air defense missile forces.

Lukyanovich said that President Lukashenko is committed to improving and keeping the Armed Forces ready for battle. Air defense warning units are checked regularly.

The most recent check was done on May 11, and the results were good.

The Belarusian Armed Forces are still spending money to improve and buy new weapons and combat equipment. They expect to get two new radar stations made in Belarus this year.

The sites are called Rosa and Vostok. As part of the long-term plan for the Armed Forces until 2025, there are also plans to buy new air defense weapons systems and Su-30SM planes in the future.
