Denise Richards Opens Up About Her Surprising Hair Makeover

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Denise Richards is known for her signature blonde locks over her decades-long career in Hollywood. However, the actress made a dramatic change by darkening her tresses that had fans doing a double take. In a recent chat with PEOPLE, Richards opened up about the inspiration behind her hair transformation. And holiday plans with loved ones.

When asked about going darker, the 53-year-old revealed it was actually her older daughters Lola and Sami. Who encouraged the switch after coming across old photos of their mother with a brunette ‘do. “Denise Richards told PEOPLE that Lola and Sami thought she should try rocking darker locks again like she did earlier in her career,”. She said the change was done spontaneously following their suggestion.

The Inspiration Behind the Transformation

Richards, who shares Lola and Sami with ex Charlie Sheen, said seeing photos from her younger acting days piqued their daughters’ interest in her returning to brunette. “Denise Richards credits her girls for the hair inspiration. Saying she did it ‘on a whim’ after they brought up old pictures of her with a darker hue,” the article detailed. The Wild Things star adopted daughter Eloise in 2011 and husband Aaron Phypers became Eloise’s adoptive father the following year.

When asked about holiday plans, Denise Richards said her family loves to cook together and enjoy Easter egg hunts. “It’s always been Easter egg hunts. My older girls are a little older but it’s fun for them to see their little sister still enjoy the Easter bunny and an Easter egg hunt,” she shared. The piece also mentioned whether her ex Charlie Sheen joins celebrations. To which Richards said “it all just depends” but that “he’s always welcome.”
