El Toro Reopens at Six Flags Great Adventure After 10-Month Closure

El Toro, the renowned wooden roller coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, is set to reopen this weekend after a 10-month closure cause by a ride malfunction.

The park officials have conducted safety inspections and confirmed the reopening for both season pass holders and regular ticket holders.

However, the reopening of Kingda Ka, another popular ride at the park, is still pending further inspection.

El Toro will reopen its exhilarating ride experience to season pass holders on Saturday. Followed by regular ticket holders in the afternoon. Similar operating hours will be offer to season pass holders on Sunday.

The announcement of the reopening came after final safety inspections completed, as confirmed by a Six Flags Great Adventure spokeswoman.

The Department of Community Affairs (DCA) also involved in the inspection process. But no immediate comment was available due to state office closures.

The closure of El Toro was prompted by a ride malfunction in August 2022. Which resulted in injuries to 14 riders, with five of them requiring hospitalization.

The coaster immediately closed following the incident. Subsequent inspections revealed structural damage to the track support columns, rendering the ride “structurally compromised.” As a result, the ride ordered to close indefinitely.

The specifics of the malfunctioning incident have not publicly disclosed, and the DCA declined to provide further information when contacted recently.

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing, and additional details may be released in the future.

While El Toro is reopening, the park’s Kingda Ka ride will remain closed. The closure began on June 5 after an unspecified malfunction occurred during the launch, causing a “rollback.”

Inspections for Kingda Ka are schedule after the Juneteenth holiday, indicating that the ride may potentially reopen soon pending the inspection’s outcome.

After a 10-month closure, El Toro at Six Flags Great Adventure is finally reopening to riders. The park has conducted safety inspections to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for visitors.

While El Toro is ready to provide thrills once again, the closure of Kingda Ka continues as inspections are schedule following the Juneteenth holiday.

Visitors can now look forward to experiencing the excitement of El Toro while awaiting the reopening of other attractions at the park.
