PlayStation 5 Pro Rumored to Drop This Year
Analysts are buzzing that the PlayStation 5 Pro could hit store shelves before 2024 comes to a close. Insider sources say Sony has been secretly working on an upgraded version of the popular PS5 console.
Multiple industry watchers are claiming that a more powerful PS5 Pro model is in the works and planned for a holiday release. Serkan Toto of Kantan Games told CNBC “there seems to be broad agreement that Sony will unveil the PS5 Pro in the second half of the year.” This lines up with prior reports from reliable leakers about Project Trinity, said to be the codename for an enhanced PlayStation.
Could a New PS5 Be on the Way?
So what’s the deal with this supposed PlayStation 5 Pro? For one, it’s expected to pack significantly beefier specs than the standard PS5 launched with back in 2020. Rumors point to a bigger CPU and GPU along with more RAM for crisper graphics and faster loading. The updated console would aim to future-proof PlayStation games for years to come.
There’s some debate around the potential late 2024 release window mentioned by analysts. Sony’s own financial reports indicate they don’t have any huge exclusive games lined up until April 2025. Dropping a PS5 Pro without major software to show it off could be risky. Then again, pairing it with anticipated blockbusters like Grand Theft Auto VI or Death Stranding 2 in 2025 would be great timing. Only Sony knows their plans, so gamers will just have to wait and see if this upgraded PlayStation becomes a reality before next Christmas!
