Setapp Opens its Doors to a New Market
Setapp, the popular subscription-based app collection, is launching its curated selection of apps on iOS through a new Setapp App Store. Available initially in the European Union, the Setapp Store gives iPhone users access to over 240 top-rated productivity and design tools for a low monthly fee.
The Setapp collection has seen great success on macOS, where subscribers can download and use apps like MindNode, n-Track Studio and Session without paying additional per-app prices. Maintaining their approach of carefully selecting only the best applications, Setapp’s new mobile store will feature many fan-favorites from their Mac lineup.
MacPaw, the company behind Setapp, aims to provide iPhone owners with an alternative to Apple’s App Store through their subscription model. “We are setting a new path for the software industry towards a better and more diverse app ecosystem,” says MacPaw CEO Oleksandr Kosovan. Through Setapp, users can experiment with different tools without large upfront costs, trying apps they may not otherwise purchase individually.
A Subscription Store with Carefully Curated Apps
Rather than hosting all iOS software, Setapp maintains a curated selection of only the most useful and well-designed programs. “We carefully vet each app, feature and update to ensure it aligns with our philosophy of meaningful efficiency,” explains Yaroslav Stepanenko of MacPaw. This approach aims to surface the best productivity-enhancing apps and services for subscribers, hand-picking quality over quantity.
With Setapp, users receive over 240 top-rated iOS apps through a single low monthly fee rather than paying for each individually. This gives professionals, creatives and other power users a rich set of tools for tasks like notation, project planning, photo editing, music making and more. By launching their subscription store in the EU, Setapp hopes to bring their successful formula to a new market and provide an alternative app discovery experience on iPhone.
