Whole Foods Expands its Reach with New Small Format Stores
Whole Foods is looking to get closer to customers with a new convenient store format. The natural grocery giant known for its large supermarket-style stores is testing a smaller store concept focused on prepared foods and everyday essentials.
The first Whole Daily Market location just opened its doors on Manhattan’s Upper East Side at 1175 Third Ave. Measuring around 10,000 square feet, the new store is less than half the size of a typical Whole Foods but aims to make healthy, organic options more accessible than ever.
A Focus on Fresh, Fast Food
This new Whole store zeroes in on prepared meals, produce, breads and beverages perfect for busy New Yorkers. Its “Juice & Java” bar offers smoothies, cold-pressed juices and coffee drinks to-go. A hot bar features rotating daily specials like mac and cheese or chicken skewers for easy lunch or dinner. Customers can also shop an array of best-selling Whole Foods Market items like supplements, flowers and household essentials.
With success of the initial Daily Market, Whole plans to expand the concept to other neighborhoods in NYC. The smaller format has potential to introduce the natural grocer’s high-quality standards to new customers in urban areas with limited real estate. It seems Whole Foods has found a fresh way to take its mission of healthy food for all to the next level.
