Houston Lands Star Receiver Stefon Diggs in Blockbuster Trade With Buffalo

In a major surprise move, the Houston Texans have acquired Pro Bowl wide receiver Stefon Diggs from the Buffalo Bills. The Texans sent their 2025 second-round draft pick to Buffalo in exchange for Diggs, adding a true number one target for quarterback C.J. Stroud. The 30-year old Diggs has been one of the most productive receivers in football since joining the Bills via trade in 2020.

With Stefon Diggs now in the fold, the Texans possess one of the best receiving corps in the entire NFL. Pairing Diggs with emerging young pass catcher Nico Collins and versatile veteran Brandin Cooks gives Houston a big three at the position that can threaten defenses in different ways. Diggs in particular brings a unique combination of route-running savvy and playmaking ability that should take pressure off Collins as he continues to develop.

A New Beginning for Diggs

Stefon Diggs

After four prolific seasons in Buffalo where he established himself as Josh Allen’s favorite target, Stefon Diggs role in the Bills’ offense seemed to be diminishing in recent times. He did not top 100 receiving yards in any of the Bills’ final nine games last season. The trade allows Diggs a fresh start while giving him the opportunity to remain a number one option within Houston’s attack alongside Collins and Cooks.

With the additions of Stefon Diggs and running back Joe Mixon earlier in the offseason, the Texans have given C.J. Stroud an incredibly dangerous supporting cast to work with as he looks to take another step forward in 2024. GM Nick Caserio has quickly transformed the Texans’ offense, and Diggs’ arrival in particular could be the missing piece that vaults Houston into AFC South contention.
