Lockdown Lifted After Reports of a Scary Situation at the Malmstrom Air Force Base

There was a scary situation that went down earlier today at the Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana. Word started spreading around 10:30am that there was an “active shooter” spotted on the base. Can you imagine?! Everyone was freaking out. The base went on immediate lockdown, which means no one could go in or out and all activity on the base had to stop. They called it an “FPCON Delta” which is like the highest security level.

All the schools in the area were told to shelter in place too, can you believe it? It’s crazy to think something like that could happen so close to home. The local police department helped out the base to get the situation under control. For a few hours nobody knew what was really going on. Was there really a shooter? Was anyone hurt? So much uncertainty is just the worst.

What Really Happened

As it turns out, the reports of an “active shooter” at the Malmstrom Air Force Base stemmed from someone spotting a “suspicious person” on the premises. Wild, right?! Thankfully, no shots were actually fired and nobody ended up getting injured. Phew, what a relief. It just goes to show you never know what might happen, even in places that are supposed to be safe and secure. Scary to think about!

By the afternoon, they had contained the situation and lifted the lockdown. The “suspicious person” must have just been someone who didn’t belong there. Still, better safe than sorry in a situation like that. I’m just glad it ended up being nothing major and everyone is okay. Can’t believe how much of a panic it caused though!
