North Dakota 2024 Republican Caucus Sees Trump Battle Haley For Delegates

On Super Tuesday, voters in North Dakota participated in the North Dakota 2024 Republican caucus to select their preferred candidate for the Republican nomination. The caucus is a party-run election where voters gather at designated locations between 5-8pm to declare their support for Trump or Haley. With 29 delegates at stake, this was an important early contest between the two Republican heavyweights.

At the twelve caucus sites spanning the state, which has two time zones, voters had to show identification like a driver’s license to participate. To be award any delegates, candidates needed to meet the 20% threshold of votes. A candidate claiming 60% of the vote could win all twenty-nine delegates from North Dakota. Early polls showed Trump with a significant lead over Haley in this reliably red state.

How Did The Candidates Campaign?

Both Trump and Haley campaigned heavily leading up to the North Dakota 2024 Republican caucus. Trump held several rallies emphasizing his America First agenda and track record as President. Haley promoted her experience as Governor and at the United Nations, arguing she could expand the GOP tent. On caucus day, turnout was expected to be a key factor as both sides mobilized their supporters.

With only 13 delegates at stake, the Democratic caucus on April 6th was overshadowe by the high-profile Republican battle. Incumbent President Joe Biden faced no serious challengers in North Dakota. The results of the North Dakota 2024 Republican caucus would give an early signal of Trump and Haley’s strengths heading into subsequent primary contests.
