Knicks Draw First Playoff Blood, Topple 76ers 111-104 Behind Brunson, Hart’s 22 Points Each
The New York Knicks defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 111-104 in Saturday’s playoff opener behind strong performances from Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart. Brunson and Hart poured in 22 points apiece to lead the Knicks to victory on the road.
While the starting backcourt powered the offense, the Knicks’ bench was the unsung hero. Deuce McBride exploded for 21 points in the pivotal second quarter when Joel Embiid left injured. McBride outscored the entire 76ers bench by himself in the period to give New York separation.
Depth Makes the Difference
It was a total team effort that lifted the Knicks to the Game 1 win. Beyond Brunson and Hart, veteran Bojan Bogdanovic added 13 points off the pine. Mitchell Robinson dominated the glass, grabbing 12 rebounds while containing Embiid. The Knicks’ depth simply overwhelmed Philadelphia down the stretch.
With the series shifting back to Madison Square Garden, the Knicks will look to take a 2-0 lead behind their raucous home crowd. Their bench bailed them out in Game 1 – if the starters can find their rhythm in Game 2, it could spell trouble for the 76ers. New York has proven they are more than just a one man team with their balanced attack. The future looks bright for this new look Knicks squad.
