Tide Pods Recalled Due To Packaging Issues, Millions Of Bags Affected
Consumer goods giant Procter and Gamble has announced a major recall affecting millions of bags containing Tide Pods and other laundry detergent packets. The recall covers over 8.2 million packages of Tide Pods, Gain Flings, Ace Pods and Ariel Pods. Due to a potential risk posed by the external packaging of these single-use detergent pouches.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the outer film bags. That contain the individual detergent packets can tear or rip too easily near the zipper. If damaged in this way, the bags may improperly release their liquid contents. Posing a risk of accidental ingestion or contact, especially for young children. While no injuries have been directly reported related to these particular lots. There have been four cases of children accessing the liquid laundry detergent.
What Types of Products Are Included in The Recall?
The recall impacts 17 different varieties of P&G’s popular single-use laundry detergent packets, sold under the Tide, Gain, Ace and Ariel brands. This includes different sized bags containing 12 or 39 individual pods or packets of liquid laundry detergent. The products were manufactured between September 2023 and February 2024. And are widely sold across major retailers both in stores and online. Consumers can check lot numbers on the P&G recall website to see if their product is included.
P&G is urging customers to check their supplies of laundry detergent packets and discard any bags included in the recall lots. A full refund is being offered for impacted products. While no serious injuries have been directly linked to these particular lots thus far, the risk posed by damaged outer packaging is the reason behind this massive 8 million unit recall affecting so many popular Tide Pod and other detergent products.
