2025 Cadillac Optiq vs Tesla Model Y: Interior Rivalry Revealed by Car Expert
Cadillac has revealed the cabin of its smallest electric SUV yet, offering a glimpse into the interior design of the upcoming 2025 Cadillac Optiq. This new entry-level electric SUV from the American luxury brand is poised to rival the Tesla Model Y, although its availability in Australia is yet to be confirmed.
The Optiq, set to make its debut at the Beijing motor show later this month, boasts dimensions that make it slightly larger than the Tesla Model Y. Measuring 4822mm long, 1912mm wide, and 1642mm tall on a 2954mm wheelbase, the Optiq promises a spacious and luxurious interior for its occupants.
Images released by Cadillac showcase a modern and sleek interior for the Optiq, reminiscent of its larger sibling, the Lyriq. Key features include door-mounted power seat controls, a digital instrument cluster, and an infotainment touchscreen seamlessly integrated into a wraparound assembly.
One notable interior design element is the bold metallic blue trim that runs through the dash and center console, adding a touch of sophistication to the cabin. Additionally, the Optiq features unique design elements such as a different-shaped floating center console and a compartment under the center stack controls.
While Cadillac has not officially confirmed the Optiq for the Australian market, the brand has trademarked its name locally, hinting at the possibility of its arrival. In addition to the Optiq, Cadillac has also trademarked the Vistiq and Escalade iQ nameplates, signaling the introduction of larger electric SUVs to the Cadillac lineup.
General Motors Australia and New Zealand Managing Director, Jess Bala, has hinted at further Cadillac models making their way to Australia following the Lyriq’s debut. The brand’s electric-only strategy aligns with its global aim to transition to an all-electric lineup by 2030.
With plans to launch three Cadillac Experience Centres in Australia and New Zealand to provide a premium retail and after-sales experience, Cadillac aims to cater to luxury car buyers who seek exclusivity and trendsetting vehicles. Despite being positioned as luxury offerings, Cadillac models like the Lyriq are expected to be competitively priced within the mid-sized SUV segment.
As Cadillac prepares to make its mark in Australia with a focus on electric vehicles, the competition between the 2025 Cadillac Optiq and the Tesla Model Y promises to heat up, offering consumers more choices in the expanding electric SUV market.
